Bond, James Bond
Last night we went to go see the new Bond flick, Die another Day.
It was *REALLY* pretty good. Finally, the plot of a Brosnan era bond was
interesting and entertaining -- Brosnan finally got the opportunity to be in
a good Bond film, which he deserved since he's probably the best Bond since
Sean Connery. The movie was up there with Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret
Service, and License to Kill, as far as having an interesting plot while making
James Bond seem like a real person. Thankfully they didn't try to do another
"A View to a Kill" (unlike the last 3 bond films, peyuck).
There were also the 'homages to previous bonds' in this one, including the
jet pack from Goldfinger, the shoe from From Russia with Love, an Astin
Martin, but what I thought was the best homage to James Bond was the scene
in Cuba where Brosnan picks up the book
A Field Guide to the Birds of the West Indies and goes outside to a bar.
If you're a real fan of the series, you'll understand why this is funny,
and if you're not sure, follow the link and find out why.
